Land Acquisition Team Continues Expansion as Warmington Residential Promotes Michael Ouji to Director
Michael “Mike” Ouji joined Warmington Residential in 2019 as land acquisition manager with the primary responsibility of sourcing new land entitlement deals in the Inland Empire. The company was growing and expanding its Southern California Division land team to identify every possible opportunity and acquire new land deals in broad geographic locations.
His impressive leadership in identifying and acquiring residential land opportunities resulted in his promotion to a director of land acquisition in the Southern California Division. Buoyed by Warmington’s appetite for all types of deals, Mike has been very successful and acquiring new land opportunities and has established a pipeline of more than 500 units in the IE.
Division-wide, Warmington Residential’s Southern California land team has expanded the company’s inventory from San Diego to Santa Barbara, with close to 1,500 homes currently under control and in varying stages of entitlement or development.
“With Mike leading the charge, the Southern California Division concentrated its land acquisition efforts on the Inland Empire, which we are bullish on, as part of our overall diversification and expansion plan,” said Jay Deckard, Southern California Division President. “We have seen similar success in San Diego and Ventura and believe that having the right people in specific markets allows us to excel.”
Deckard emphasized the importance of having a local land person in each geographic region as key to the team’s success. “The value of intimate knowledge and local connections cannot be overstated,” he said. Scott Goligoski is director of land acquisition in San Diego and Orange counties; Bill McReynolds is director of land acquisition in LA and Ventura counties.
“Our entrepreneurial approach and experience in navigating land-use and bureaucratic issues allows us to consider all types of deals, including those seen as having land-use, zoning, or environmental challenges,” Deckard concluded.
The Warmington group of companies has land acquisition teams in place throughout all of the regions in which they are active. This includes Northern California, Nevada and Utah. In Nevada and Utah, Warmington is seeking multifamily acquisitions exclusively.
